Nuclear war heads count

Malini Shreedharan Recent estimates by international nuclear watchdogs and reputed
thinktanks hold that Pakistan has a total of 70 to 90 warheads compared
to India's 60 to 80. China, in comparison, has around 240 warheads......so what next?

The balance of power and counting of weapons of mass destruction hardly matter as pressing of Nuclear button on either end will trigger such a horrifying trail of destruction and wiping out habitant on both side of fence that nothing will be remained to be reconstructed. What is really terrifying is in case of failing of State of Pakistan which ... See moreis of higher probability the nuclear bomb may fall in hand of Terrorist who will immediately use it.

Systemetic phasing out of all Nuclear Arsenal at the disposal of all countries of Nuclear Club is most required thing which No Government will sincerly try to do and it can be only possible through movement of citizen of all country together in a manner to put maximum presuure in their respective country.

India might be strong in conventional warfare and pakistan may not be able to survive for more than a few days with conventional warfare. That is the worry India needs to address cos a nation like Pakistan when under threat will not think twice to go against the " No First Use " Policy and might just press the Nuclear trigger and that will cause wide spread damage. When anyone is under threat quite naturally they will use All options available with them.

Sir. No doubt, on the basis of Russian-American cold war hostility and evidence that under any circumstances, these nuclear war heads are not likely to be used against each other. In fact the people of the subcontinent has no point to worry and threaten by these nuclear weapons. Therefore, the investment to produce nuclear weapons are their national waste and diversion of peoples' welfare funds. Alas! Jai Hind.

Malini - Nuclear weapon is a deterent. It keeps both the parties at bay, therefore u dont have to worry as none of the countries are going to use it becasue they know the distruction it wil bring to them. @Anilji, I do not disagree that you have to have strong defense for national interests. What I am trying to convey is that you still try for peace while protecting your interest. But finally the countries with overall economic conditions of their people will survive That is exactly what happened with USSR disintegration due to their economic ... See moreweakness. Russia is smaller now, less of threat to US. Berlin wall came down. Politics lok at national interests , Chinese were despised by all Americans, and what did Nixon do was to make ties with China for national interest. The international relations are dynamic and keep changing example Germany, USA, USSR, China.

As far as security for you nice sweat house is considered , it depends whether you need sophisticated security or simple lock and key and no locks at all- it varies from place to place. We do not always lock our house, keep doors open in our absence,, allow repair people to go in and out without our presence, keeps the doors and windows open in night for fresh air.But that is our neighborhood. I do not think I can do that in Numbai or Delhi or New York.

So yes if you need Arms of any kind for national interest it is understandable in the real world, but what a country makes strong is its over all vitality, economic strength, democracy, equal rights for all, educated masses, etc.

Sorry for the long response
